The traditional fortress of the Kacchawaha kings is at Amber (Amer), so this is the logical place from which to begin your exploration. The majestic 16th century Amber Fort, on top of a hill, dominates the landscape and is Jaipur’s biggest monument. After Amber, the next place to explore is Jaipur City. Built from scratch based on traditional Hindu town planning principles, Jaipur became the new capital of the Kachhawahas in the early eighteenth century. We will show you not only the monuments and palaces of this legendary wealthy city, but also the art and language schools, temples, crafts and guilds patronised by the rulers.

Tour Notes: Amer Fort is accessible on foot, by road, or on the back of an elephant. We do not recommend elephant rides at the fort and the cost is not included in our pricing. If you wish to ride an elephant to the fort, our guide will show you where the ticketing office is, and will meet you at the top where you dismount. Please ensure you have adequate sun protection. You have to take off your shoes at places of worship. Please dress modestly as we will be visiting religious monuments and traditional bazaar areas.
